Best RV Parks in the Southwest | Tips For Your Next Family Road Trip

There really is nothing like getting away for a few days. At Cottonwood Cove Resort & Marina, we often focus on the water – and really having fun on it. Yet, there’s a lot of open road to cover as well. RV parks can prove to be an exceptional way for you to see it all.

If you are ready to plan your next family road trip, you’ll need to know where to stay when you’re ready to buckle down for the night. We have a few recommendations in the Lake Mohave area and the general Southwest itself.

When you want a real experience and a lot of fun, we suggest checking out these RV parks and the activities they offer.

Cottonwood Cove Resort RV Park

Whether you are just passing through on your adventure or you are looking for a place to stay for a few nights, the Cottonwood Cove Resort RV Park is a solid option. The location offers everything you need including:

72 Full RV hook-ups (plenty of room)
Coin laundry
Public restrooms
Beach access

There is also easy access to a convenience store and a café. Of course, when you are staying with us at Cottonwood Cove Resort & Marina you definitely want to make sure you have time for the marina itself. That gives you direct waterfront access to Lake Mohave. The family will love access to the beaches. If you don’t want to spend the night in the RV, that’s okay. There’s also a motel on the beach.

With lots of activities, this location is exceptional for a stop on your family road trip. We encourage you to book in advance of your stay.

Crossroads RV Park

Another option in the Mohave Valley area is Crossroads RV Park. This location is best for those who plan to stay for a bit. It is near the Colorado River and Lake Havasu. It’s a quiet area with ample opportunities for relaxing. There are also a number of activities nearby. That includes boating and fishing.

One of the larger RV parks, this one offers:

Bring your kids and your pets. Even better, stop in to have a hot shower as you are on the way to one of the area’s scenic hiking or biking trails. You’re also located about 10 miles away from shopping on Route 66 in Oatman. It’s a great location for most needs.

Snowbird RV Park

Another option in Fort Mohave is Snowbird RV Park. This is an excellent location because it is smaller and is family-owned. It’s been owned by the same people since 1990. It’s very family-friendly, too. There are some nice activities that are a good break for a family road trip. That includes a solar-heated pool and a nine-hole golf course.

The Snowbird RV Park offers a number of amenities including:

Good Wi-Fi access

The Snowbird RV Park is about 10 miles from the casino. It’s also one of the most affordable options. It’s located close to a Walmart as well.

Riverside Adventure Trails

Located a bit further out of the way but still in Fort Mohave is Riverside Adventure Trails. We recommend this location for those who want a smaller location that’s near the area’s best hiking. There are also a lot of things to do at the site. That includes billiards and music in the recreation room. If you are looking for long-term use, you can find that here.

The Riverside Adventure Trails RV park offers:

Onsite pool
Hot tub
Good cell reception
Good accessibility to the highway if you don’t want to stray far

What’s great is that you’ll spend a lot of your time enjoying the outdoors here. It is just two miles from the Colorado River. And, you’ll be able to spend time boating and fishing here. There are areas with approved use of jet skis (and rentals are available). There is also a swimming pool on site along with a golf course a few miles away. The casinos are under 10 miles away as well.

Happy Together RV Resort

Another option we recommend is Happy Together RV Resort. It’s located in the Mohave Valley as well. This location is one of the largest pull-through sites in the area. You will find ample to do nearby including beach access as well as fishing opportunities. If you are in town for some casino experiences, this location is a good one.

It offers a lot of the features you need including:

There are a few things that make Happy Together RV Resort a good option. First, it is within walking distance of Spirit Mountain Casino. While that may be the case, it is still a very modern and family-friendly location. You will find it is well maintained with a few upgrades. That includes a new fitness center. You are about 10 miles from area restaurants and most shopping needs.

There is an area that is a gated 55+ location. These are longer-term locations. The RV resort itself is just right for the entire family.
