Cottonwood Cove Houseboat With People

Cottonwood Cove Houseboats | Tips For Choosing Your Rental

When it comes to exploring all that Lake Mohave has to offer, one of the best ways to do so is by renting a houseboat. The room, the privacy, and the fun onboard make this an exciting opportunity and a good way to spend your time. Yet, what you may not realize is that you have options. Cottonwood Cove houseboats are a solid option for multiple reasons. Our team at Cottonwood Cove Resort & Marina is happy to offer help and guidance as you make decisions.

Consider a few things to think about and plan for as you get ready for your trip. Our rentals are available to meet most needs.

Size Matters in Houseboat Rentals

Whether you are bringing just your family or a group of people, having the right-sized houseboat is an important part of the process. There are options available that provide sleeping space for up to 12 people. Other boats provide room to sleep 6. It’s a good idea to stick with no more than that on your houseboat for safety reasons.

If the boat is not moving, you may be able to have a few more people on board. This is a good way to meet others. You may want to rent more than one houseboat if you are traveling with a large group. You can still have dinners together as long as you keep the boat docked while you have a slightly larger group on board. Or, you can gather at a nearby beach.

Size is important, but also consider how much room and privacy the various members of your group will have. Even if there is room for 12 to sleep on the houseboat, that doesn’t mean there are numerous bedrooms with ample privacy.

At Cottonwood Cove Resort & Marina, we offer houseboats that range from a 50’ that sleeps 6 people, to a 56’ houseboat that sleeps 9, 59’ and 60’ houseboats that sleeps 10, and a 70’ houseboat with room for 12. Take a closer look at each one of these boats to know what is included.

Our 50’ houseboats have 2 private bedrooms. Our 56’ boat has two private bedrooms and 2 other bedrooms. The largest boats have 4 private bedrooms.

Don’t forget the bathrooms. You really don’t want to have 12 people on board with just 1 bathroom. That becomes challenging to manage in every situation.

Houseboat Rental Amenities

There is a wide range of amenities available on houseboats. This ranges widely between the various boats available as well as the overall style of them. There are a few amenities and features that tend to be worth spending a bit more on to get. Here are a few recommendations to consider:

Hot Tub: For those who love to relax in a hot tub, look for a houseboat that offers one. This is common on larger boats. Hot tubs are never large enough to provide enough room for everyone. However, they do create a good way to relax with someone that is close to you.

Wet Bar: If you plan to entertain or just have some fun with a few buddies, you want to know there is a wet bar onboard your houseboat as well. Some rentals offer these while others do not – but when they are present, you can count on having ample room to mix your favorite drinks. It also makes for a good place to hang out with a few people without having to include everyone on board.

DirecTV: Let’s face it – there will be times when you want to relax with a “good book” and other times when you really do want to catch up on your favorite shows. Having a connection option like this makes that possible. Smaller houseboats tend not to offer this as often. But modern and larger boats do. That can provide a good way to have a family night with the kids, too.

Kitchens and Cooking: Be sure to find out what’s onboard in terms of a kitchen. Not everyone likes to cook, but some enjoy specific types of equipment, utensils and even a grill. These are generally available on all houseboat models. If there is something you are interested in, make sure to ask us about it or bring it along with you for your trip. You will find most of what you need readily available.

Getting the Prices Right

As you compare rentals for your experience, do not overlook the value of having a boat that is within your desired price range. There are a few things to remember here. This can help make sure you get just what you need.

  • The lowest price out there is not always the best choice. Let’s be honest – this is a trip and you do not want to have a number of problems to deal with during it. Look for quality and then price (the good news is affordability is an option).
  • Discounts make things possible. What many people do not realize, though, is that Cottonwood Cove houseboats may be more affordable than you realize. That’s because, the longer you stay, the bigger your discount gets. Save up to 22% when you book for 7 days with us, for example.
  • Do set a budget. Your houseboat is a big part of your trip but it is probably not the only thing you plan to do at Lake Mohave. Make sure you set a budget that allows you to rent other watercraft as well.
  • Another tip – check out our current rental specials. There may be a better way for you to save and still have the type of experience you desire.

Is a luxury houseboat the right option? For many people, this is the experience and it is well worth it. We do offer a few recommendations, though. First, get to know what’s available on the houseboat and what limitations you have for bringing items with you. For example, a good packing list is important. You do not have unlimited amounts of freezer storage or refrigerated storage. If you plan to do any fishing or need to have gear for any type of experience, make sure to factor that in, too. You’ll need space or at least the ability to rent what you need.

Cottonwood Cove houseboats are a solid investment. They can provide you with everything you need for an exciting trip. When choosing a houseboat, consider what you really want to do and try out. Then, book an experience that is right for you and the whole family as well as anyone coming with you on your trip.
